🖍 Natural Colour

Colour 🌈 : Dark Copper Brown

Nose👃🏼 : Dark chocolate, Mocha, sweet peat smoke, toffee apples, dark fruits and sherry

Taste 👅 : Mocha, powdered chocolate, red berries, gentle sweet smoke, blackcurrant jam and black pepper

Finish 🏁 : Treacle, jammy dark fruits and hints of smoke

Thoughts 💭 : Lovely dram, it’s incredibly sweet and fruity and closer to a port finished single malt than a sherry matured peated whisky.
Nevertheless this was matured firstly in a refill Hogshead before being moved over to a first fill Pedro Ximénez cask. The mouthfeel is quite thick and the flavour is mostly jammy dark fruits but on occasion the sherry influence powers through those chocolate and sweet fruit flavours and with it there’s a gentle spice and subtle smoke. I dare say even those not keen on peated whiskies may enjoy this one.
The complexity in this whisky is pretty impressive, my only complaint is that I have only one bottle!

Sláinte!
