Thoughts 💭 : It can almost feel like another month another Lakes release, with 7 Whiskymaker’s editions in 2022 and 6 so far in Oct 2023 and then there’s the various other whiskies they do. It’s hard to know of them all which is really worth buying, you know, if you’re someone as crazy as me who drinks the whisky they buy. The Infinity is definitely one for the sherry fans, boasting maturation in a combination of oloroso, palo cortado, fino, and manzanilla sherry casks, the influence here is heavy.
A salesman from The Lakes would tell you the idea of Infinity is the use of all these casks has lead to infinite complexity in the whisky and whilst it’s a great whisky, sweet, chocolatey, spicy and yes complex it is by no means any less finite than any other whisky in its complexity. Arguably I’d have expected more flavours to pounce out from the mixture of maturation but the Oloroso and fino I think are possibly overpowering the other two casks on influence.
Nevertheless it is a great whisky and certainly one of my favourites from the distillery, this is the kind of stuff they should have as core but undoubtedly will not, however it is by no means infinite and neither is this review you’ll be glad to read.
Sláinte!
