Thoughts 💭 : The Bunnahabhain 21 Year Old Cask Strength 2024 Edition is a bold and unadulterated expression from this renowned Islay distillery, bottled at natural cask strength to showcase its full character. Aged for 21 years, this whisky has been carefully matured in Oloroso sherry casks before a finishing period of 21 months in ex Pedro Ximénez casks to develop depth and complexity while retaining the signature unpeated style that sets Bunnahabhain apart from many of its Islay counterparts.
As with previous cask strength releases from Bunnahabhain, this edition allows whisky lovers to experience the whisky straight from the cask, delivering an authentic and powerful representation of the distillery’s craftsmanship.
I really found this to be an incredible sherry bomb, whether or not it was worth the money is another question. It is priced quite high, but then you are also getting it at cask strength. It’s comparable to the 23 year old triple sherry; however, it’s not quite as good as that, but then the triple sherry also retails at over £100 more than the 21, so you should expect it to be better.
Sláinte!
