Thoughts 💭 : Douglas Laing’s Scallywag The Winter Edition 2024 is a limited-edition blended malt whisky, with only 600 bottles released worldwide. Crafted with whiskies from notable Speyside distilleries such as Mortlach, Macallan, and Glenrothes, it is finished in Spanish ex-Orange Wine casks. These unique casks impart a sweet citrus character, balancing beautifully with the warming notes of spicy cinnamon and ginger, making it an ideal winter warmer.

Bottled at an indulgent 53.9% ABV, this expression is non-chillfiltered and naturally coloured, preserving its full-bodied character. Inspired by Douglas Laing’s family fox terrier, the Scallywag series continues to celebrate the lively nature of Speyside malts. Interested in keeping warm this winter? Check out this Hot Chocolate Cocktail:

• 100ml hot milk
• 3 scoops of hot chocolate
• 1oz Scallywag Winter Edition 2024
• 1oz Irish Cream

Optional:

• 1/2 oz Triple Sec
• Squirty cream, crumbled chocolate and a chocolate orange segment to garnish

Heat up 100ml milk in a pan, when it starts to bubble reduce heat and simmer, add in hot chocolate and mix well.

Add Scallywag whisky and Irish cream, then take off the heat and pour into your mug or heatproof glass.

Add plenty of squirty cream, then crumble some chocolate on to the top (alternatively you can grate chocolate), finally add the chocolate orange segment and enjoy!

For a chocolate orange boost, add 1/2 oz of Triple Sec prior to taking off the heat.

Sip and try your best to enjoy slowly!
