❄️ Non Chill Filtered
🖍 Natural Colour
Colour 🌈 : Tarnished Gold
Nose👃🏼 : Marzipan, almonds, vanilla fudge, cinnamon and green apples
Taste 👅 : Shortbread, apricots, apple peel, earthy, tannic and ginger spice
Finish 🏁 : Black pepper, orange marmalade and bittersweet dark chocolate
Thoughts 💭 : A lovely dram with rich complex flavours and a bittersweet profile. This was distilled and filled into a refill Hogshead at Teaninich distillery and was then split into two European oak Octaves which previously held Vin Santo wine for a year.
Vin Santo is also known as the Holy Wine of Tuscany and is used as a dessert wine (similar to how PX is used in Spain).
The mouthfeel to this is medium, the bittersweet tones give a good balance and layers of complexity come through with each sip.
All in all it’s an excellent whisky, well worth grabbing a bottle and you gotta love the colourful duck (pintail) on the bottle.
Sláinte!
