Thoughts 💭 : This 18 year old from Glenlivet has been matured in first and second fill American oak and sherry casks. The mouthfeel is oily and it’s fairly smooth but with a surprising amount of spice behind it that can only come from the age of the whisky. If you’re a fan of Glenlivet and more bitter notes then you may like this one, personally it’s not one for me, taste wise it’s not leaps and bounds from the founders reserve, yes there’s more complexity and a natural spice behind it and it’s more smoothed out but it’s not different enough and the sherry influence is too subtle for me. The price of it is good though for an 18 year old but age isn’t everything.
