❄️ Non Chill Filtered
🖍 Natural Colour
Colour 🌈 : Amber
Nose👃🏼 : Fruity notes of jelly tots, pear drops, pineapple, green apple peel, ginger, glacé cherries, roasted nuts and caramel
Taste 👅 : Green apples, ripe pears, stone fruits, cinnamon spice, a hint of ginger and some liquorice
Finish 🏁 : Some ginger heat with green apple peel and dry oak
Thoughts 💭 : Apparently this translates to “Rare Cask” in Gaelic, it is finished in Spanish oak Oloroso Sherry casks/butts. The resulting whisky is very fruity which is typical for the distillery but lacks much of the sherry flavours.
If you like your drams fruity and you like an Aberlour 12 then you’ll like this but if you’re looking for a sherried dram from Aberlour seek out the 11yo Oloroso Sherry finish one (see my previous review) which imparts far better and more typical Sherry flavours
